A person uses five different sign systems in communication: words, intonation, tone of voice, gestures and energy impulse. The first three belong to the authority of traditional linguistics, the fourth to non-verbal communication, and the fifth to extralinguistics. The gestures used by the speaker in the process of his speech serve to increase the emotionality of the speech or the information being conveyed. Emotions, on the other hand, have a positive effect on the pragmatic relationship between both the addressee and the addressee and help to reflect the speaker’s attitude towards his or her speech. The result is a successful illocutive act.
