Abstract

This article delves into the often neglected skill of listening in second language classrooms and explores various methods for effectively teaching and improving listening abilities. The importance  of listening comprehension in language learning is emphasized, as it plays a vital role in communication and overall language proficiency. It provides a comprehensive overview of the importance of listening comprehension in language acquisition and the challenges associated with learning this skill, like gaps in the message, recognition of content and visual uncertainties. The article explores a range of pedagogical approaches, including the use of authentic materials, technology integration and interactive activities.. Additionally, the role of assessment and feedback in evaluating and enhancing listening skills is explored. By implementing these methods, teachers can empower their students to become proficient listeners, enabling them to effectively communicate and comprehend spoken language in real-life situations.
