Sports and Physical Culture: Differences and Relationships

This article examines sport as a special type of human activity, expressed through various forms inherent in culture. The authors emphasize the need to distinguish between the concepts of “physical culture” and “sport”, highlighting the dominant competitive component in sports. The influence of social institutions, values and norms on the development of sports is described. The article analyzes the differences between physical culture and sports, emphasizing their relationship and importance for the formation of a healthy personality. Aspects of the development of sports in society are also discussed, including psychophysiological stress, the functional capabilities of athletes’ bodies and sociocultural dependencies. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of maintaining moral standards and rules in sports for the preservation of fair play and the development of individuals and society.
