Abstract

This article examines the semantic equivalence of the English language in synonymy and its representation in lexicographical sources based on explanatory dictionaries. One of the criteria for the lexicographic description of a lexical unit is the presence of synonyms that perform the function of additional interpretation. However, the object of description in our study is a term that is an ambiguous concept in modern linguistics.
