The equestrian game "ulak" (kokboru, buzkashi) is the most widespread and favorite type of folk games of Uzbeks, Kyrgyz and Tajiks living in the Fergana Valley. It is usually held in honor of the New Year - Navruz, the harvest festival, the circumcision of boys, the marriage of the newlyweds. The equestrian game "ulak" is notable not only for its competitiveness, but also for the rituals associated with it. One of these rites is "kunak" - treating the guests of riders. An obligatory part of the treat is considered to be a whole boiled ram, during the division and use of individual parts of which (ears, meat of the front part, tongue, brain, etc.) ceremonial lamentations are performed. Ulak and related rituals serve to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between representatives of different peoples. Ulak has become an important part of the spiritual life and culture of the peoples of the Fergana Valley.
