Abstract

This article examines the development of ecological awareness and culture as essential components of the human worldview. The study identifies two main types of value attitudes toward the environment: material ecological values, which focus on practical activities and technical protection of nature, and moral ecological values, which emphasize ethical evaluations of human interactions with nature. The historical role of Eastern civilizations and religious motives in shaping ecological outlooks is highlighted. The article also discusses how ecological culture is formed through the interaction of social existence and consciousness, drawing on perspectives from both Western and Eastern philosophies. The current global environmental crisis underscores the importance of incorporating ecological values into all areas of human culture and education. Furthermore, the integration of ecological culture into the general system of human development can lead to more harmonious human-nature relations, ultimately contributing to the resolution of global environmental issues. The work concludes by emphasizing the importance of ecological values in shaping individual and societal responsibilities toward environmental preservation.
