Abstract

Rhetoric and Stylistics are studied in close connection with each other, since both branches of linguistics deal with phenomena related to the attractiveness, coloring and impressiveness of speech. Stylistics as a science is a new field of linguistics in the 20th century and a huge invention of this science, which has historical links with (classical) rhetoric – "rhetoric is the art of speech, the art associated with the use of eloquence as a means of persuasion".  In ancient Greece, rhetorical art began as the performance and art of oral speech.
