Abstract

The article explores the development of the short story genre in English literature (e.g., Edgar Allan Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Katherine Mansfield) and the evolution of storytelling in Uzbek literature (e.g., Alisher Navoi’s impact, and oral traditions). The article also highlights the role of culture, society, and history in shaping the short story genres Thematic Contrasts in Uzbek and English Short Stories like: family, community, spirituality, historical continuity in Uzbek short stories and individuality, existentialism, social critique, the influence of geopolitics, colonial history, and industrialization in English short stories.
