Abstract

This article highlights the significance of pragmatics, the study of language use in social contexts, particularly for secondary school learners. It argues that while vocabulary and grammar provide the foundational tools for language, pragmatics is crucial for applying these tools effectively in real-world interactions. Mastery of pragmatics equips students to navigate social interactions, academic discussions, and future professional environments more successfully. The article aims to emphasize the importance of teaching pragmatics in schools, address challenges associated with its instruction, and propose practical strategies for integrating it into the classroom curriculum.
