Abstract

Linguistic research employs a variety of methods to systematically study language structure, usage, and development. This paper explores the principal methodologies used in contemporary linguistic studies, including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method approaches. It covers techniques such as corpus analysis, fieldwork, experimental methods, introspection, and sociolinguistic surveys. Each method is evaluated in terms of its application, strengths, and limitations within different subfields of linguistics, such as phonetics, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The paper emphasizes the importance of methodological rigor and interdisciplinary integration to ensure validity and reliability in linguistic research. By understanding and appropriately applying these methods, researchers can gain deeper insights into the complexities of human language.
