Abstract

This article discusses the role of the element 是shì in the modern Chinese language. In particular, the meaning of "affirmation", "existence" and emphasis in the sentence, emphasis as well as the function of a demonstrative pronoun, conjuction and copula are analyzed theoretically and practically.
