Abstract
Pearl S. Buck's "The Big Wave" presents a profound narrative on human resilience, courage, and the dynamics of friendship through the lens of two young protagonists, Jiro and Taro. This article explores the theme of children's heroism as portrayed in the novel, analyzing how the characters' responses to external and internal crises offer valuable lessons on overcoming fear, solidarity, and personal growth. By examining the psychological and social dimensions of heroism, the study also assesses the relevance of Buck's work in contemporary discussions on child development, social responsibility, and emotional intelligence in the face of adversity.
