Implementation of International Legal Norms in Uzbekistan's Water Legislation

Abstract
This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of international legal norms in the national water legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It critically examines the alignment of Uzbekistan’s Water Code with international water law, focusing on principles such as equitable and reasonable use, no significant harm, and sustainable development. By evaluating legislative reforms and institutional frameworks, the article identifies gaps in compliance and explores opportunities for harmonization. Particular attention is given to transboundary water cooperation, environmental protection, and the role of international agreements such as the UNECE Water Convention and SDG 6 targets. Recommendations are proposed for enhancing legal and institutional coherence in water governance in Uzbekistan.
