Abstract

As the world grapples with various global challenges, ranging from climate change to heightened geopolitical tensions, empowering women remains one of the most effective strategies for achieving sustainable development and peace. Currently, over 120 countries within the United Nations have implemented quotas to promote gender equality. In Central Asia, countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan have established legal quotas mandating that women comprise at least 30 percent of the total number of candidates nominated by political parties. This article examines the significance of gender equality and the crucial role of women in governance, as well as their participation in the state and societal affairs. Furthermore, it investigates the manifestations of women’s equal rights and opportunities in the Republic of Uzbekistan.
