Abstract
Female gender is a risk factor for post-Covid syndrome Considering the data from studies conducted around the world, there is reason to believe that post-Covid syndrome is predominantly a female disease, since its development is more often observed in women. According to preliminary findings, in addition to female gender, “long COVID” is associated with age, concomitant diseases, obesity and severity of the acute period of the disease. On the other hand, it has been established that the severity of the acute period of the disease is not associated with an increased risk of post-Covid syndrome, while female gender, old age and active smoking increase its duration.
