Findings from the Investigation of the Frequency and Characteristics of Periodontal Disorders in Youth
Main Article Content
Abstract
In contemporary dentistry, early detection, treatment, and prevention of periodontal diseases are critical issues. This issue is especially significant for young people. Significant alterations have occurred in the composition of periodontal illnesses recently, along with a propensity for a strong rise in the incidence rate in the youth population and a rise in atypical types of periodontitis (juvenile, rapidly progressing). Contradictory information is also available on the condition of periodontal tissues. In this age range, there are vast variations in the prevalence of periodontal disorders. Clinical and radiographic examinations of young adults aged 19 to 25 years revealed that 30% of patients had generalised periodontitis, and 60% of cases in those aged 25 to 30. The issue of periodontal diseases is significant for medicine as a whole since it can lead to early tooth loss, the establishment of chronic infection foci, a weakened immune system, microbial sensitivity, and other consequences.
