Oxidative Stress and its Biochemical Bases Appearance
Main Article Content
Abstract
Oxidative stress reflects an imbalance between the manifestations of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body and the ability of the biological system to promptly clear itself of reaction intermediates and repair the damage caused. Disruption of the redox status of cells leads to toxic consequences through the production of peroxides and free radicals, which damage all cellular components, including proteins, lipids and DNA.
