Introduction of Complementary Foods: a "Window of Opportunity" for the Formation of Intestinal Microbiota and Modulating Immune Responses

Abstract
The review summarizes information about the stages of formation of the intestinal microbiota in a child of the first year of life and the development of immune responses accompanying these stages. The determining role of breastfeeding in the formation of optimal microbiota and associated immune responses in the first half of life is shown. The biological feasibility of introducing complementary foods at the stage of the second "window of opportunity" — starting from 4-6 months, as well as the role of complementary foods (including cereals) in the development микробиотыof adult-type microbiota is substantiated.
