Abstract
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus.
In most patients with hepatitis C, the disease becomes chronic and can be transmitted to others. In some cases, the disease causes liver damage with possible complications such as cirrhosis (scarring) and liver cancer. In this case, patients feel very bad. However, many people infected with the hepatitis C virus can remain healthy for many years. People who were infected decades ago may be infected and not know it. Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent hepatitis C.
