This paper explores the role of loanwords in the modern German language and the reasons for their integration. The analysis demonstrates that the German lexicon is heterogeneous, containing both native and borrowed elements. Linguistic and socio-historical factors drive the borrowing process, filling semantic gaps and enriching specific lexical groups. The historical progression of loanword adoption in German, from the Roman occupation to modern global influences, is examined. The paper concludes that loanwords have significantly contributed to the flexibility and adaptability of the German language, especially during times of cultural and social change.
