Basic Education Digitalization in Nigeria: Implication for Administrative Decision Making

Abstract

This paper discussed the concept of digitalization of basic education, steps in the digitization process in basic education and benefits of digitalization of basic education in Nigeria. The paper is a review paper. The paper used secondary data. The secondary data were gathered from print materials and online publications. The paper concluded that digitalization of basic education will improve teaching and learning delivery in the basic schools and also improves basic education accessibility. Specifically, basic education digitalization provides the following opportunities; personalized learning model, virtual learning, smart classroom model, blended learning and online learning. Based on this, the paper hereby recommends that the government through national commission for universal basic education should fully digitalized the basic education by providing the human and materials resources needed by basic school to go digital. Government should ensure stable power supply and stable internet services across the country. Teachers in Basic schools should be constantly trained on digital facilities usage.
