Abstract

This article analyzes the events of the military occupation and bombardment of the city of Bukhara by Soviet Russia in 1920. The purpose of the study is to shed light on the political, military and social context of this historical process, to determine its role in the collapse of the Bukhara Emirate and the establishment of Soviet ideology in Central Asia. The article analyzes the literature based on historical sources, works of foreign and local researchers, documents, as well as modern scientific articles. Historical-analytical, comparative and systematic approaches are used as methodological approaches, and the causes, process and consequences of the events are consistently studied. The main part analyzes the Soviet military strategy, its impact on international diplomatic relations and the socio-political changes that occurred in Bukhara society. Based on the results, it is shown that the Bukhara event was a turning point in regional politics. The proposals substantiate the need to preserve historical heritage, support local historiography, and conduct a broad study of repressions during the Soviet era. The study serves to shed light on an important stage in the history of Central Asia on a scientific basis.
