Abstract
Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is an inherited disorder by which cysts slowly change into within the kidneys. It is a condition where the kidneys contain many cysts or fluid-filled sacs. Over time, these cysts can increase and expand in number causing kidneys to enlarge as well as diminished kidney function, and eventually if untreated lead to end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
