Abstract

Citizen Charter Boards (CCBs) play a vital role in enhancing client information and engagement within public services. They provide a platform for citizens to voice their concerns, offer feedback, and collaborate with service providers. By clearly outlining service standards and grievance mechanisms, CCBs promote transparency, accountability, and trust between the government and its citizens. This empowers individuals to hold service providers accountable and understand their rights and available services. The study investigates the implementation and impact of CCBs, employing a mixed-methods approach to gather insights from various administrative contexts. Preliminary findings indicate that CCBs facilitate effective communication, clarify service expectations, and foster a two-way dialogue between citizens and government agencies. This engagement is crucial for enhancing service quality and responsiveness. However, challenges such as bureaucratic resistance and limited citizen representation hinder the full potential of CCBs in promoting client engagement. Addressing these challenges is essential for improving CCB effectiveness. The research highlights the need for strategies to strengthen institutional capacities and enhance communication efforts. By understanding the dynamics of CCB implementation, policymakers and stakeholders can promote greater citizen participation and accountability, ultimately improving public service delivery and fostering a more citizen-centric governance approach.
