Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of multimedia tools in teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP), particularly technical terminology related to the oil and gas industry, in vocational and technical education settings. With the oil and gas sector’s increasing reliance on English-language documentation and international communication, it has become essential for students in this field to master domain-specific vocabulary. Traditional language instruction methods often fall short in facilitating deep understanding of complex terms. This paper investigates how the integration of multimedia—videos, animations, simulations, and audio materials—improves vocabulary acquisition, comprehension, and retention. Drawing on recent experimental data from technical colleges in Uzbekistan and supported by international research, this study provides methodological recommendations and practical examples for integrating multimedia into ESP instruction. Findings indicate that multimedia-enhanced instruction significantly outperforms traditional methods in technical language learning outcomes.
