Abstract

As a natural phenomenon, discourse should be firstly distinguished as spoken and written discourse. This classification depends on how information is transmitted. Discourse is not only viewed as a dynamic process, it is a unit of linguistic research. This thesis analyzes these main approaches in discourse analysis.
